Exercise is an efficient stress reliever.

Experts say that if exercise were available as a pill, everyone could be taking it. One reason is that exercise is a terrific stress reliever. If you exercise — especially right when the stress response is triggered — you burn off stress hormones just as nature intended, as an alternative of letting them pile up.

Moreover, any sort of movement frequently helps to alleviate the pent-up tension. Rhythmic, repetitive movements, corresponding to walking, running, swimming, cycling, and rowing—and certain forms of exercise corresponding to yoga, tai chi, and qigong—actually elicit rest responses as well. Regularly engaging in some of these activities can enable you to relieve on a regular basis stress.

To maximize the rewards of stress relief, you'll must focus your attention on yourself—what and the way you're feeling—and your surroundings during exercise. This should make you are feeling calmer and more focused.

During physical activity, try to concentrate on how your respiratory complements the activity. Breathe rhythmically and synchronize your breath together with your movements, mindfully specializing in the sensations in your body. When distracting thoughts creep in, gently remove your mind from them and deal with movement and respiratory.

Keep it easy – yYou don't all the time have to enroll in a particular exercise class. A wise walk can do wonders. As you walk, expand your awareness to the sights and smells around you. Look at freshly cut grass, flowers, fallen leaves, sunlit trees, or gray clouds. How does the surface air feel against your body? How does the surface under your feet feel and sound? What thoughts are running through your mind?
